Toronto is widely known as one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world. It shows in the city’s restaurants.  From Peruvian to Japanese, the options are endless. At the gourmet end of the spectrum there’s a growing trend to follow star chefs. Jamie Kennedy. Susur Lee. Michael Bonacini. They, and others, have legions of fans that champion their gourmet cooking.

Ideal Destination
Toronto Taste is a tour of the city’s top restaurants in a single night. This benefit event held annually is in support of Second Harvest, a charitable group dedicated to keeping Toronto’s less fortunate from going hungry. It’s a great opportunity to sample delicacies from the city’s top chefs, take part in silent auctions, and listen to great music.

Major Event
Summerlicious, and its colder brother Winterlicious, are celebrations of Toronto’s culinary excellence.  Restaurants around the city offer fixed-price menus carefully created to showcase their chefs’ skills.

Interesting Fact
Wheat flour was the original product of the Gooderham & Worts Distillery. Alcohol, however, was much more profitable and by 1837 the switch had been made. At its peak, more than 11 million litres of rye whisky flowed from this site each year.
