Going Beyond

For those who wish to extend their trip, Toronto is a gateway to the immense richness of Ontario.

Niagara Falls is a must-see. The wineries of the Niagara Peninsula are internationally acclaimed. Try their celebrated and uniquely Canadian ice wines. Niagara-on-the-Lake is a carefully preserved town that is home to the Shaw Festival.

To Toronto’s west, the internationally renowned Stratford Festival features the work of the world’s most famous playwright, William Shakespeare.

Golfing in and around Toronto is exceptional, and the number of courses is truly surprising. Less than an hour’s drive gives you a choice of hundreds more per capita than anywhere else on earth. Afterwards, take a relaxing afternoon stroll along historic Main Street Unionville in the east end of Toronto or the quaint village of Streetsville in the west. Both towns have dozens of historical points of interest, as well as beautiful boutiques, galleries and variety stores.

Then there’s Canada’s famous wilderness. After the urban adventure that is Toronto, the northern woods are often the perfect counterpoint. Let loons serenade you on a placid lake. Get your adrenaline pumping with whitewater rafting. Or watch a sunset that seems to last an eternity. It’s all at Toronto’s back door.
