Torontonians share an openness that is unlikely in any city, let alone one of our size and magnitude. It’s a quality we pride in ourselves, and nowhere in the city is pride and openness as celebrated as in The Village, Toronto’s energetic LGBT community located right in the heart of downtown.
The last week of June each year, Toronto plays host to Pride, one of the largest, most happening, most colourful LGBT celebrations in the world. It’s a week to express freedom and gratitude and to enjoy being who you are, where you are - in a big, dramatic way. (On the subject of drama, a stroll along Church Street might look familiar as the neighbourhood also plays the set for Queer as Folk.)
Tie the knot in T.O.
Getting married is just one of the fabulous reasons why many same sex couples choose to visit Toronto. Same sex marriages have been legal in Ontario since June 23, 2003.
The Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto married the first same-sex couple in Canada and is a favourite spot to tie the knot.
